Like most mental health professionals, Rebecca Stone, LMHC of Stone Counseling & Consulting Services started receiving requests from clients to write Emotional Support Animal letters years ago. Not knowing what this was or how to legally and ethically address these clients' requests, Rebecca took it upon herself to do the research. She and others on a college campus she worked at came together to explore all different aspects of ESAs. After lots of research and experience, Rebecca has since presented about ESAs at a national conference, helped create a university's ESA policy, and developed a specialty in ESAs in herprivate practice. Now, she's helping mental health providers like you learn about ESAs and prepare their practices to handle ESA requests!
In this workshop, Rebecca will present essential information about Emotional Support Animals which mental health providers need to know. The differences between Service, Emotional Support, and Therapy animals will be covered, as well as laws applicable to ESAs, and an overview of practice-related information that mental health providers need to know prior to engaging in Emotional Support Animal services.
