At what point does worry become a problem?

I answered an inquirer's question via Quora. Below is my response to this question.

  • Does the worrying cause you additional worry or distress?

  • Does it impact your ability to function on a daily basis/does it prevent you from doing things you would normally do?

  • Are you unable to redirect your thoughts or relax enough to accomplish what you need to do?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then your anxiety is problematic. I would venture to guess, too, by virtue of your question, if it isn't quite that problematic yet, it may be heading that way.

Anxiety is very treatable, and more rapidly treated when it's not at a debilitating level, through counseling, medication, or a combination of the two.
